There’s Bope from Days and also Jarlena. I think that’s my biggest issue with the smush names is that I generally don’t like them. LOL it’s just as easy to type B/H or J/M.

BoNC was the original name for PC. It stood for Bev oN jean luC. And it was an offshoot of the BoNCers who coined JetC because they were the original JCers. And yes, it does stand for Janeway et Chakotay.

Oh, I was huuuge into Days in the 80’s and toward the mid 80’s is when the smushnames happened in Soapland.

It has evolved to include all romantic pairings, yes. Just like & should designate friendship or family or platonic relationships. But these days the younger fans don’t learn the history of a pairing, and decide something needs a ship name without actively looking for an already established one.

If I remember correctly that’s where they started.

I’m also sad that BoNC is lost to time. I do wish newer fans would reach the history of established ships and their already established names before creating new ones. (We’ve also lost JetC as well)

I personally call it K/S, so i guess I’m an elder. lol I feel like Spirk removing the / is removing the history behind the /. But I’m from a time when the smushnames were only in soaps where they came from and i generally dislike them as a whole. But I’m old like that. LOL
