I’m adjuncting in modestly reasonable circumstances (I have a second part time job, my colleagues are great, I am unionized) and it is still a lot of work to do this well for peanuts!

I am not complaining so much as saying in an ideal world adjuncts aren’t depending on the income to live and are a small minority of the teaching faculty. What used to be an exceptional case has become the norm and it’s hurting everyone.
