Speeding that process up would have been worse than useless. Writing is thinking, and good research is slow. Celebrate the process (by which I mean reward it with chocolate).
Took all day to write 1 paragraph. It frankly sucked, and still doesn't look like much on paper. But it took that long because I had to figure out what my position really was and why it mattered, and have come to several new insights along the way.
I have always thought that the very arbitrariness of magic is a big part of what *makes* it magic in the first place. Atmosphere over systems any day.
