The crazy thing is that most of our ancestors were treated this way when they first arrived in the U.S. How quickly we forget.

You like Netrunner, right? Doesn't that play quite differently every time?

Not with the types of games I like to play and many of the ones I design. They are so interactive, that they can't help but be very different every time. Think of Chess and how it plays so different every time. There are many multiplayer boardgames that have that type of "emergent gameplay" too.

Then you miss out on the joy of having different experiences with the same game! Of course, this is not as common in many of the multiplayer solitaire games today--even when you take a different path, it feels same-y to me.

I agree with the „two industries“ observation…but is it really that hard to differentiate the games? Perhaps the confusion is more the result of a lack of delineation between reviews and paid content (promotion)?
