Yes, I am a veteran of 40 years of being in a very unforgiving industry and thus take this in stride, but it would potentially be damaging to a writer with only one or two books out. It's hard to build up the necessary scar tissue.

Game developers get this all the time too. Its pretty awful.... usually comes packaged with a weird dose of self-entitlement and idea that they own your fictional worlds and you are just their caretaker..

Every once in a while we are reminded that some goobers still think it's productive to deliver "critique" directly to the author. Why? What's the point? Even if the critique is correct, no one who might benefit will see it now.
