*My system, FtR: 5*: great book; loved it; will keep it forever; a must-reread; 4*: good book; will probably keep it & probably reread it; 3*: average (logical); enjoyed it but may not reread it; 2*: it had its good points, but I didn't like it a lot; won't keep it; 1*: hated it; will delete/toss.

... any of my books 5) were considered "bad", which means not recommended, which means no sales. Thanks, Amazon! No stars; do not recommend. Does this mean I'm going to change my rating system? I don't know. Maybe my public ratings. But it feels dishonest giving a 3-star book a 5-star rating.

A brief thread: TIL that Amazon's rating/recommendation algorithm considers anything below a 5-star rating as "bad". 5 stars or GTFO. If you're going to ignore the nuance of your own rating system, go back to thumbs up/down. I'm an Upper-Midwestern WASP. I cannot *function* without nuance.
