I'm honestly not trying to pin down one specific culture or race. My elemental Mancers can come from anywhere their element is more prevalent. The Pyromancer family I focus on comes from Iceland in the volcanic region, but there are plenty from desert climates and so on.

True yes, but I want them to physically fight with their elements as a martial art. That gets tricky to do when ATLA is more or less the modern standard.
