(My personal takeaway, as someone who went through this 10 years ago and just shocked by how even more competitive college admission has gotten even since then, is that people should have a fundamental reflection on what the college admissions look like nowadays...)

Asian American families focus too much on getting their kids onto schools like Harvard. First let them be people.
But I'm also mindful of what I heard in various community seminars and from parents and children of the anxiety they have -- And how no Supreme Court ruling is going to change that anxiety. I'm hoping the story captured that too.
And I'm also mindful of the stereotype people have of Asian Americans -- And should note that there are many Asian Americans who are not aspiring to go to elite colleges. Here's a good conversation about this -> www.wbur.org/onpoint/2023...
No stereotype can tell the story of more than 20 million people. We look at the true diversity of the Asian American academic experience.
I should note -- Of course much of this isn't unique to the Asian American community. The arms race for top colleges continues to ratchet up.
Control Panel for Twitter with auto block for all blue checkmark (and headline on links) has helped me somewhat, but yeah, felt this way quite a bit this week while reporting on the Maine shooting.
You would think the paper has more, uhh, local and important things to opine on but I guess not... (Disclaimer: Editorial board is separate from the news reporters to a degree that I didn't even know who sat in the editorial board when I worked there)
