So then a lot of the decline in GDP for Germany and Austria was due to reparations and Weimar incompetence?
I presume similar factors were at play in Belgium, German, and Austria?
We know what happened anyway, right? Lincoln got elected on keeping slavery where it was, the slavers rebelled, and he was handed a ton of choices about how to deal with the resulting crisis. Because abolitionists were inside the tent, they had access to advocate their position. And it worked.
One of the coolest things about being middle aged is that (assuming things go reasonably well, statistically speaking) I have my whole life ahead of me! And this time around I actually know stuff and can do things right from the start and I have way more resources. It’s kind of awesome, honestly!

I dunno. For some of us it's kinda hard to "get over" the fact that one party tried to overturn the results of a free and fair election and stormed the Capitol, and now are running the same candidate who refuses to admit he lost last time. Seems kinda important?
