I don’t think “bring back midcentury public housing standards” will be a winning slogan, particularly given how the nickel and diming resulted in high opex for the quality of housing.

Really, you just need to bring back early 20th century zoning, and combine it with modern European building codes. Make the process for building a six storey point access building anywhere require basically no approval as long as it's up to code.
