Aw man, I just found one doozy of an error.

There’s almost one yokai per page so there’s tons in there but the descriptions are very short. Likely aimed at kid readers. The thing that concerns me most is the translation. It’s really awkward in some places.

Also, did I hear him pronounce it "KuCHEsake Onna"?

It was written in 1996 so they probably weren't using Google. I'd love to know what snippets of books and magazines they were using tho. The illustration (as well as the bit about "politeness") seems like a case of "I only know 5 things about Japan and I'm going to use them all here!"
