I felt the recent statement on international students, & getting the Migration Advisory Committee to review the income threshold for family visas were positive. Labour has inherited an asylum backlog of >118,000 people - processing it will lead to more removals, so Government seems to be prudent.

Decent healthcare should be a political priority for lots of reasons. But I"m sceptical that deliverism and a few hanging baskets will see off the populist right. The UK should learn lessons from the USA here.

I'm a volunteer in a jobs club. What we provide - non-judgemental, non-time limited help - complements Jobcentre Plus. We have also helped people rebuild their relationships with their JCP coach where this has broken down.
