You don’t need to debate phrenologists, flat earthers, race scientists, 9/11 truthers, climate change deniers, or January 6 insurrectionists. Their ideas have been examined and been found lacking. They lost the debate. Pointing that out, and then ignoring them, is not censorship.

A high end phone is like $1,000 Which would pay rent for a single digit number of days in a lot of US housing markets

This is really interesting, because these religious conflicts are right before everything goes sideways. It might be easier to argue that *lack of tolerance for (religious) diversity* was the downfall of Rome Which is, you know, exactly the opposite of the retvrn chuds point

you could probably get a solid black mirror episode out of a stratospherically wealthy character surrounded by such levels of sycophancy that their day-to-day experience resembles insanity

Honestly, VR feels like a much stronger business case than LLMs I could see schools or museums using VR for reconstructions of historical locations; seems like a neat way to get a feel for Bronze Age cities But there's just fundamentally no use case for "sometimes the word machine doesn't lie!"

I think that "moment" for LLMs is going to be when a judge rules they have to pay royalties to the artists they ripped off, and then LLMs just disappear overnight

It's bad for the economy to have an underclass of underpaid people with no recourse. Sure, it fattens some people's wallets, but more inequality is not actually good for the economy! large swaths of precarity are bad for the economy! keeping people from their potential is bad for the economy!

US oil demand probably peaked in *2019* before COVID shutdowns and the transition to EVs kicked off

The frustrating thing about Starfield is that it's... fine And then it has all these glimpses of the *era defining, epic adventure* it could have been And it just never manages to deliver on those promises
