You are absolutely right, there are lots of flaws in traditional transportation planning practices, including the MUTCD. It's the "vibes" dismissal that irritates me. Like, "nah, that just doesn't make sense, based on my two seconds of reflection."

Taking this approach to safe streets would first require acknowledging that traffic fatalities are an emergency, not just business as usual.
I really wish we could revert all our streets downtown back to two-way ASAP. Would go a long way toward reducing salmoning, I think.
