I'm sadly resigned to gun violence regularly intersecting my life here in the U.S., and it really breaks my heart to read this news from Prague, where I studied in the 1990s. I am so grateful for my time at Charles University and how it formed who I am today. I regularly visit Prague in my dreams. đ
The police said the suspect, who also died, first shot his father in a town outside Prague and then continued his rampage at the university.
This is the June photo for my 2024 Calendar. Wildflowers + morning light = đ
This is the May photo for my 2024 Calendar. One of my favorite parts of camping is watching the sun rise and set from the campsite. I think Nuche likes that too.
This is the April photo for my 2024 Calendar. One of the perks of living in Colorado is the close proximity of New Mexico - where this photo was taken and a truly enchanted place - and one of the perks of both CO and NM is the fabulous sky.
"In addition to the driver himself, NTSB officials suggested that multiple parties played a role in the horror â including Dodgeâs advertising team, which has become particularly notorious among sustainable transportation advocates for its aggressive marketing tactics."
A horrific car crash that killed nine has safety officials calling for curtailing the aggressive car ads that may inspire motorists to hit the gas.
"The faster drivers go on the road, the more likely they are to suffer a crash and for that crash to be fatalâa point that is both bluntly, stupidly obvious and more or less ignored by plenty of drivers, automobile marketers, and road designers."
Automakers are happy to sell you a Bentley that drives 175 miles per hour. But we donât have to allow it.
This is the March photo for my 2024 Calendar. March can be the toughest month in Colorado, when you're tired of winter but it just keeps snowing, and you wish it had snowed like that back in December, but now you're just grumpy. It helps if you have someone warm and fuzzy to snuggle with.
This is the February photo for my 2024 Calendar. I feel like this tree is a friend that shares my affection for City Park, always inviting passersby to admire the view and notice the particular way the park looks beautiful at this moment.
This is the January photo for my 2024 calendar. I walk past this statue of MLK Jr. nearly every day & always appreciate my visits with him. He reminds me to center love in my advocacy work and helps me keep perspective on the long arc of the moral universe that my work aims to bend toward justice.
And of course, you can donate directly to DSP for #ColoradoGivesDaywww.coloradogives.org/story/Dsp Every dollar you give supports our advocacy to reduce Denver's unsustainable dependency on cars and design communities that put people first.
