This is nuts. At my state university I would be immediately investigated, suspended, and quite probably fired if I had targeted students in this way, and rightly so.

Re: Davidai, whether or not we agree with students, faculty (teachers) should never treat them as the enemy. It is our responsibility to engage them in pedagogical (which includes politics) processes, not virulent antagonism. Amazing that this needs to be said.

To be very clear, this would be an open and shut case of retaliation that would be immediately referred to the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance.
