Why does that matter? You're testing how it looks, not how it sounds.
I'd have to see the specific person/conversation to judge if this is their explanation, bc this is very much not what I assumed. I was thinking more like someone whose brain is so rotted by hustle culture that they can't imagine any other reason to learn something.
The problem is their efforts have become redirected in less useful directions. Like, they've come to mistake "disruption" as a good thing for its own sake (rather than a side effect of doing something useful) and well "worse and for high rent" is certainly disruptive.
