That's interesting. Maybe abolish charges and put them into prices per KwH. Stronger signal to save energy.

There’s an interesting dynamic with the gas standing charge. When you go all-electric, turning off your gas is a nice extra saving. But as fewer people are on gas in future, the charge will have to go up further to cover fixed costs of the gas network. Will certainly need some govt action…

households ability to limit energy consumption can often be limited (and often richer households are more able to shift, or reduce) their energy usage. This is why citizens advice are ambivalent at best about shifting costs onto the unit rate.
