I think a lot abt how teens/young adults no longer have any spaces b/c the generation before us thought us chilling at the mall was us being lazy or getting in their way or that skate parks were unsightly. So w/ the internet we gradually retreated to our phones & now they hate that too (ex: tiktok)

I remember when they implemented curfews. Implemented loitering laws and the rise of NIMBYs in general And yeah — there’s some really fucking stupid early Gen Xers mixed in with this too but the majority of these laws were enacted primarily by boomers and selfishness is kind of “a thing” with them.

A big blow up happened a few months ago in my area when some adults my age called the cops on kids because they were using the tennis court at the park right outside a school when the adults wanted to use it, and refused to leave because the adults had kicked them out every day that week.

A lot of it was the Drug Scare of the Reagan 80s. Kids, gathering together, being loud and weird? DRUGS! Good to have a bit of progress away from that but between that and CRIME!, I think those are larger contributions than 'lazy' assumptions

Take away enough from them and they’ll do the only thing left: riot.

Also thinking about parents complaining about kids being lazy or out of shape and then closing skate parks, the coolest way to stay fit
