once again, this is a skill issue

Peter Baker commiserates with Peggy Noonan, who shouted a question at some passing students from a park bench and is surprised they didn’t immediately come over and do her job for her.

Peter Baker & @peterbakernyt
“When protests are not about actually explaining your cause or trying to engage journalists who are there to listen. @Peggynoonannyc describes her visit to Columbia before the raid.”

I was on a bench taking notes as a group of young women, all in sun-glasses, masks, and kaffiyehs, walked by. "Friends, please come say hello and tell me what you think," I called.
They marched past, not making eye contact, save one, a beautiful girl of about 20. "I'm not trained," she said.
Which is what they're instructed to say to corporate-media representatives who will twist your words. "I'm barely trained, you're safe," I called, and she laughed and half-halted. But her friends gave her a look and she conformed.

Peter seems like a tool.

And what she's demonstrating is that the students have message discipline, which is excellent! Every Comms Director I've ever had is cheering right now!

If she's going to twist a lack of words into a bad faith argument, imagine what she'd do with words.

And every protest has been like this since forever? Unions show up with demands and talking points. Political protests are much looser affairs. The protesters don’t debate for days in advance of participating and don’t come to mix it up with journalists

Baker has only ever interviewed Trump and his people yet he calls himself a professional journalist

These people are at top positions in their profession. If it’s a skill issue, it speaks very poorly so that profession. Not trying to talk trash to you personally, but it speaks very poorly of journalism how frequently the chaff is kept while the wheat is thrown away.

Can you IMAGINE La Noonan calling you over to come crash on her rocks!? *shudder*

It’s very important that we know the protester was “beautiful.” Nothing shallow or regressive about your analysis, Peggy. The protesters definitely misjudged you.

They sure proved her wrong that they'd twist her words! The only words she said were twisted to mean the exact opposite! paraphrased, > "I'm not trained," she said. Which is what she was trained to say.
