I'm probably preaching to the choir on this app but the AI hype is a bit like if two years after the invention of the diesel engine every company in the world was rushing to dieselize everything: "your morning coffee, powered by diesel!" "The new dPhone: the power of diesel, pocketed."

Like I've gotten a camera ticket for 24 in a 20, which was genuinely very obnoxious (and expensive). I will happily live with it as a down payment on fewer violent traffic stops and a general sense that I'm not in constant mortal danger as a pedestrian/cyclist.

I've made this point on here before but living in a place where the vast majority of speed enforcement is done by camera, I would say it is (A) fairly annoying as a driver (B) quite effective in terms of reducing speeding and (C) wildly preferable to arbitrary enforcement by armed police.

No no he's just cycling through the characters in The Social Network. First he was himself, then he became the Winklevii, now he's Sean Parker and inevitably he'll become Larry Summers.

(fwiw that chart is outdated and based on an awful source but I'm pretty sure that number *is* just the PLAN fleet, they have something like 80 Type 022 missile catamarans and a huge fleet of older monohull ones)

Fun fact: the Chinese coast guard has a handful of cutters that are bigger than our Ticonderoga-class cruisers.

I cannot possibly justify it as I live in the middle of a city of 9 million people but I also desperately want their new off-road cargo bike, the Orox.

Oh yeah and if you do go to the Tate you can pick up the river boat from Bankside Pier (skip the tourist boat, the Uber-branded ferries are faster, cheaper and have a full bar&cafe on board) to Greenwich, which has the Cutty Sark & Maritime Museum, both of which are great for kids.

Btw very much on the opposite end of the cultural spectrum but the Tate Modern absolutely rules as a destination with little kids. Lots of kiddie friendly activities, the turbine hall - the size of a blimp hangar - for them to run around in, and one of London's best viewing decks, all for free.

Can't speak to football but I went to a T20 cricket match at the Oval (basically cricket but it runs for the length of a baseball game rather than a week) and it was chill and fun. I don't remember it being especially boozy, but I've lived here a long time and my standards for "boozy" have shifted..
