Maybe I was a freak as a kid, but not only did I get rather far in Tom Sawyer when I rented it as a kid (and beat when I got a used copy), I also didn't hate the game. No, it's not Mario 3, but it also isn't The Uncanny X-Men either. The book WAS better than the game, though...
