I've been bad about posting anything on here, so now seems like an excellent time to start. Random is maybe generous, but I had to move it to grab anything else off my shelf, so here's an absolute classic that I should make time to play again:

I stand by my opinion that video games should look worse. 4K tvs are for movies. A 4k camera does 90% of that work for you A 4K game? Man, that shit'll cost you like 100 million dollars and the console will cost $600 <720p was fine This is fine, it looks good

Not the sort of torment I was expecting, really. "I’m convinced there must be some other game called Planescape: Torment out there, because the game I cleared was one of the most misogynistic wastes of time I’ve ever experienced." kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com/2024/10/08/p...

Planescape Torment: Never meet other people’s heroes

[Content warning: This article cites misogynistic dialogue in several places and also refers to in-game scenes of relationship-related abuse.] I’ve had my eye on this RPG for a long time now,…

Once again thinking about columbo villains dot com, the only website where you can buy throw pillows and t-shirt dresses with the pictures and last words of the villain from every episode of Columbo

A throw pillow with a picture of Dick Van Dyke from the episode Negative Reaction with his famous(?) last words “you didn’t accidentally reverse that film… you did it deliberately”
A stock photo of a woman wearing a T-shirt dress with John Cassavetes from Etude In Black with us famous(?) last words “goodbye genius”. He is holding a conductors baton.

There's a neat thing on the internet archive for classic anime and RPG fans: translated transcripts, 'Replays', of the original tabletop sessions between Ryo Mizuno and friends that were serialized in Comptiq magazine and compiled into the original Lodoss War novels. archive.org/details/reco...

The compilation's cover, with the main antagonists of Lodoss War posed together.
An introduction detailing how in 19876, Hitoshi Yasuda was approached by the editors of Comtiq to write a series of articles about the origins of RPG games and D&D. Yasuda settled on the 'Replay' format, got Mizuno and friends together, and cobbled together an original campaign setting, Lodoss Island.
Profiles and black and white illustrations of Parn, Deedlit, Ghim, Etoh, Slayn, and Wood Chuck.
The first of the chronicle pages of their adventures read like Twitch sessions of D&D transcribed and likely dramatized a bit.
