it genuinely pisses me off how hard it is for people in society to embrace the creative endeavours they dream of. for the first time in my life i’m not living paycheck to paycheck and for the first time i feel as though i can be creative. imagine the art we’d have if didn’t live in capitalism

We had to fight just to get 8 hour workdays and weekends. We have to struggle to get anything.

I'm in the same boat, Imagine if we didn't work just about every single day of our lives, what would we achieve?

A creative society is a healthy society.

I am grateful now that I dropped out of college at 18 and tried to make a living playing guitar. Did alright for awhile. Was poor af but didn’t care. Always had shitty service industry jobs as a means to an end. Went back for an AAS in electronics at 40 got a good job up in the machine. No regrets

I have only ever worked paycheck to paycheck and just make art in my free time, which helps me get by. Oddly I've probably been at my most creative, whether it was writing or art, when I had to work the most, but this very definitely *not* an endorsement for capitalism's drudgery as a muse

Imagine the art and science we could make if those passions didn't have to be aggressively monetized for basic necessities.

Capitalists love to pretend that it’s such a “productive” system, but the sheer capacity of all the things people never get to create as they’re robbed of all their time and energy is almost incomprehensible. Heartbreaking. Can’t even imagine the brightness the world is missing in those works

So, as somebody who somehow reached a stable point where I don't actually *need* to work, I've found myself a lot less productive than I really wanted to be. Somehow, the daily act of living expands to fill all available time. And timesucks like <looks around> this place exist. Discipline is hard!
