I have a very rational reason for hating this word: Collinear. Why are there two Ls????? It's co-linear!!! See also: correlation, corresponding
Also it's because some prefixes have a last letter that's just a total pushover. It'll change itself to be the first letter of whatever you're sticking it onto. For example, suffix, it's really sub-fix (to attach afterwards). The 'b' becomes an 'f'. Sorry I couldn't come up with a math word.
