Inks: There are two main families of inks in cardmaking. Dye inks are translucent, watery, and often reactivate with water. Pigment inks are opaque, often thicker and stickier, and are usually more water resistant. (Formulas vary, always read the label)
There are some really exciting hybrid inks out there that do fun things. Some reactivate with water to produce patchy and mottled effects, some go chalky, and you can do more than just stamp with them, they can be brushed or sponged on and blended to create abstract backgrounds.
