I think what annoys me about these efforts to make transgression, in itself, or polydoxy the essential piece Christianity is that Jesus and the apostles never seem to have acted this way. They acted in transgressive ways, but the substance of their transgression was always didactic or confessional

They were willing to transgress to make a point, but that point was always that Jesus is Lord, and that God was making new covenant with humanity. So yes, Christian orthodoxy is always going to be transgressive to any society that rejects it
