Just fold the studio into Disney and kill it already. Make Toy Story sequels till the sun fucking burns out. Love how this shift conveniently happened when more woman/POC were really pushing to direct their own stories. Defining their experiences as not "universal" is saying the quiet part aloud.
Yeah, we both know that second-generation immigrants struggling with their heritage and Italians don't exist. It's not like Emotional Products- the movie™ or Relatable Emotions -White Edition©
I read the quoted tweet three times to make sure I wasn’t having g a stroke. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Luca and turning red are brilliant movies. You don’t have to be gay or Asian to “get” them. I am neither!
it’s not even intentional but they’re putting down their intended audience as troglodytes
Turning Red was such a great movie too.
Wtf. Turning Red is all about universally relatable experiences that NEVER get addressed in any other kids' content out of Hollywood. The East Asian perspective of the experience elevates it to a shining example of how to use identity as a contextual bridge instead of just storytelling "flavour".
This is is *opposite* of what Pixar has always represented. How would this new policy ever make Wall-E? How would it make Up? Inside Out? Soul? Even Monsters Inc? Disney will look back at this time (I hope) and realise it's the 1960's revisited.
It sounds like they want to blame the movies rather than the bad management burying them onto Disney plus instead of their intended theatrical release. The fired the last CEO for a reason.
I think, that you must agree, one experience we all share is being a nascar winning talking car. It’s just a simple tale that resonates with us all
