Bro excitement over “AI” art strikes me as another example of the notion that an “idea” is worth more than execution, as in “I’ll give you my idea, you write it, and we’ll split the proceeds 50/50.” Ideas are cheap. The execution of ideas is the part that takes skill, & skill that makes great art.
Hear hear!
“I have a notepad with 100 ideas for a book or film written on it. How much will you pay me for it?”
This happens so much in games. “I have a GREAT idea for a game, YOU be the artist, now we just need a programmer and we’ll make this awesome MMORPG and I’ll pay you when it starts making millions!” The ideas always suck too because they don’t know how little they understand about anything.
I think rifftrax exists because a lot of movies exist based on horrible ideas mired in terrible execution. Hell Idris Elba's hijacked was based on the idea that there's a UK that never had The Troubles and just roll over to terrorist demands. Or Cats the movie
WaIt YoU mEaN iDeA gUy IsNt A jOB?
I have so many ideas for my stories that they constantly play out in my head like a movie. Getting the ideas out with words that bring it to life IS THE HARD PART!
Agreed. Additionally, execution is the part that requires more time and effort. The overwhelming majority of labor that goes into making something is in the execution, not the ideation.
Thank you for using skill in place of the ephemeral, "talent"
they gonna ask chatgpt to make a startup for them investors gonna have their eyes go wide and hand them money only for it to crash we are entering the find out phase of AI and business
is it because these things are similar in essence, or because a Venn diagram of the people advocating these things is a circle
