I can't ride a bike (I wish I could, but hip, back and balance problems say no), but I fully support cycleways - every cyclist is a car not in front of me, and if they are properly separated, I don't have to worry about a cyclist wobbling in front of me. Cycleways are a massive win-win!

Keep him inside - about three weeks should usually do it. They need to learn that they have a new home. Ideally convince the people feeding him to stop, otherwise you may need to keep him inside a lot longer. I had that situation once and eventually had to let them keep him.
