Yeah I think that was more a problem with TWSBIs from a long time ago. I got into fountain pens 4 years ago, have had TWSBI Ecos from the start and am up to maybe ten, many of which have been daily drivers, and none have cracked.
I think folks are probably overzealous with that little wrench.
