A new study finds that "nature-based experiences, and birdwatching in particular, increase well-being and reduce distress" on college campuses. More of this, please! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
I went to college in a small town tucked in the pine woods and it made the experience so much better
When i was an undergrad at Berkeley, i took a local natural history class that included many birdwatching field trips. That was the most unpleasant and stressful part of the course. I avoided my binoculars for years.
I think that's true everywhere and not just college campuses. Birdwatching in all its forms appeals to people from all walks of life.
Probably also increases fondness for nature and changes ones disposition in questions of keeping nature green.

Birders ftw, 🙌 I think 30 minutes out in nature will perhaps yield improved mental health as well. I 🤔 if you pay attention and appreciate the simple things you may better off as well.

I wrote a white paper about this for a client. Unfortunately, it requires submitting a form to read through. hesonline.com/litepapers/b...
Cue people overlooking that bird watching being done exclusively by people who wanted to do bird-watching was a key ingredient
