Great article! I used to have a bias where I got outraged when politics 'invaded' science (back when I though that there was such thing as being safe from politics!!) For real though there are quite a few topics where stereotypes or sweeping common assumptions do a world of damage

People are not neutral - that is a strawman argument. Accept that scientists are people and not neutral, but require transparency. To make an absurd argument - should scientists be neutral on the question of whether the earth is flat?
