X has now eliminated its blocking policy, as they've been threatening to do for over a year now. I went there to share the post below (first image), and made the mistake of checking my mentions (remaining images).

A tweet explaining how I can no longer engage effectively on X now that they have changed blocking to muting, and inviting people to join us here on Bluesky.
A tweet from a troll rejoicing that he can now attack climate scientists.
A tweet from another troll, calling me a fear mongering fool and an ignorant woman
Another tweet claiming that there is no climate crisis (with six exclamation marks) and that it's HARP (sic) instead and we shouldn't be fooled like they did with the Pandemic (four exclamation marks)

I haven't posted there since Musk bought Twitter, locked my account, removed all but a handful of family mutuals, stopped liking posts a year ago, and deleted every post and reply I made since 2012 sometimes I go back to block trolls, and yours is one of the accounts I use to find them

I just want to confirm that I understand: the elimination of blocking is now live, right? (I deleted my account so I can't check).

Yeah I really admire how you’ve stayed engaged and optimistic - even dare I say sunny - after what your last 5 years must have been like on social media

The need for blocking, especially on a platform where bots abound and the algorithm favours trolls, is obvious. But in case you'd like to know my personal reasoning, here it is below! The article on the psychology of trolls is here: www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/your...

A tweet reading, Why does blocking help? Here are five reasons.

1/ It is discouraging to be called a whore and told to *** yourself.
2/ So why not just mute? Because they still ride your tweets directly into your follower's feeds.
3/ Seeing denial encourages people to waste their time engaging with it.
(cont'd)
4/ Trolls want you to engage. It feeds them.
5/ Research has shown blogs with negative comments are perceived as less reliable. So by attacking my posts - and more often my credentials and expertise - trolls actively seek to decrease perceptions of my credibility.
For all of these reasons, I had (on X) a very extensive block list that is in fact more than 10x longer than my following list.
