I'm about two-thirds through The Bright Sword and loving it. Gorgeous writing but page-turnery too.
As a Brit living in the US (with a trans kid) I think about this a lot. I agree with many of the comments (e.g. the religious differences between the countries) but I think this from Judith is helpful too.
I know it's dumb, and his head is full of pudding, but it's also sort of the natural conclusion to all the center-right hand-wringing about how "easy" it is to transition. Then some old woman in Michigan thinks "well, he's exaggerating slightly, but he's right that it's way too fast"
That’s the part I always forget!
This is my parenting philosophy too. Do whatever works, until it doesn't, then do something different.

The punditry is unwatchable! I sometimes watch the games with the sound off because it's so bad. Paramount does a good job with its Champions League coverage. It really doesn't have to be this awful.
