This Friday teatime, I was walking back from church and some men in a car wound their window down and just shouted 'gay!' to which I shouted 'Yes, thank you!' (I have queer hair and rainbow shoes and a jumper with a rainbow rocket on it - I don't know if they wanted some kind of gay-spotting badge!)
Happy birthday, Amos!

It is _so_ soggy here! Many roads out of the town are closed, including the A421, which has been under water for well over a week!
We had 'Ye watchers and ye holy ones' this morning, but the rest was less 'St Michael and All Angels' and more 'the vicar gets all his faves because it's his retirement service'.
It's been raining here for about 36 hours, including a month's rainfall in a 24 hour period.
And I _think_ a dress shirt in British English is a tuxedo shirt in US English? And a dinner suit is what the USians call a tuxedo (like in all the films and things)? I might have that wrong
I was also confused by this for a long time, until I had a long and complex online conversation with some USians about it.
I told Martha and she said 'yeah, good luck with that'. (to be fair, I held off for a year after we moved here)
