I boil them to infuse them with salt. Some recipes say to just soak them overnight in salted water but I’ve found that boiling works better for me.
It’s been awhile since I posted today’s flowers. 🌱 Amazing how many flowers still out in the middle of October. A pink rose bud, a pink petunia and a bachelor button.
Finished harvesting the garden 🌱 today. Sunflowers and carrots. Sunflowers will be hung to dry for a few weeks before they are roasted. Carrots will be washed and tops cut off. Then will be stored in the fridge.
Thanks. Mainly for decoration, but we have eaten the variety on the left - Connecticut Field, which is planted amongst the corn to keep raccoons out. First year planting the other two varieties Big Moon in the middle and Early Giant on the right.
I grew so many cantaloupes this year that I was looking for different uses. First I tried making a juice, but I didn’t enjoy it. Now I made a cantaloupe pie and it was delicious. 🌱
Update on my cubed watermelon. 🌱 The melon didn’t grow much after it was put in the mold but it did grow close to a cube. Easier to slice without it rolling on the table.
