There are people who say they would never throw out a book who are happy to donate a book to somebody else who … will definitely throw it out. It’s like hiring somebody to stomp bugs in your kitchen because you’re too nice to do it.

This is making me want to rewatch Gosford Park, he's so good. And you get Maggie Smith being a grade A c-word without any of the softening like in Downton.
There's other film noir leading men but they have a much different vibe. Garfield was thinly veiled anger and mess, Lancaster is too classically beautiful and all American. Dana Andrews is maybe my favorite but he's such a try hard despite trying hard not to be, bless him.
Most people know Toshiro Mifune from his many later collaborations with Kurosawa but his first, Drunken Angel, a yakuza noir, is my fave
