From my story: “A person came on stage and actually said to the individuals in the crowd, ‘We can see this [storm] coming, we hope it will miss us,’ right? Hope is not a plan.” (warning the video is shocking and rated for adults) /4
Fan video of August 13, 2011, Sugarland Concert stage collapse at Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis, IN, USA. Six people lost their lives and many more were injured during this event. Please keep the individuals who were lost or hurt and their families in your thoughts and prayers. We had a similar (luckily less deadly) incident 2 years earlier. edmonton.ctvnews.ca/big-valley-j... And it is NOT the first time an outdoor festival was ended because of a major storm. The folk fest here has been closed early because of lightning. But it has also had smoke and 30C weather.
Organizers in Camrose have cancelled the remaining performances at the Big Valley Jamboree after a stage collapse and death Saturday night.
And while strides have been made there are three big problems. 1. It's gotten hotter and weather has gotten more extreme since 2011. Thanks climate change. 2. Neither you or I can tell which venues/festivals have good rules in place. We can't tell ahead of time if a show is going to be safe /5
jesus that video is absolutely terrifying
