This is my favorite planet image ever... It looks and seems so unnatural! 🔭 www.jpl.nasa.gov/images/pia17...
On July 19, 2013, in an event celebrated the world over, NASA's Cassini spacecraft slipped into Saturn's shadow and turned to image the planet, seven of its moons, its inner rings, and, in the backgro...
I like this idea! If you figure it out or find something, let us know! In astronomy classes I emphasize to them a lot that what we see is just a very small piece of the full EM spectrum, an example like this would pair nicely with that concept (not the same, but shows we are missing info).
I agree with @brnikat.bsky.social - got to be the Pinwheel. In the phone image you can see most of the Big Dipper, Arcturus, and Corona Borealis. The streak passes right above the handle, which is where you find M101. Have you been watching/monitoring/measuring T CrB??
I always start the summer with high hopes... 😂 But I'm getting close to submitting a paper already, so maybe this break will be different and I'll actually be more productive?
I love that this new NASA video about the iconic "Horsehead" nebula ties the very newest JWST images all the way back to the nebula's discovery by Williamina Fleming on glass photographic plates now in the Harvard plate stacks. 🔭. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fxu...
Astronomers have used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to survey the Horsehead Nebula in incredible detail. The Horsehead Nebula is an iconic area in the con...
Another semester in the books! Submitted grades this morning, and looking forward to getting some research done and out this summer. 🔭🎢

The AAVSO webinar by Brad Schaefer is pretty good, though, if you haven't seen it already. I think he's pretty excited about this...
I agree! Some people don't realize how cool this actually is - literally a once in a lifetime event - and some people are trying to tamp down on the excitement like they did for the annular solar eclipse (a fairly famous pop sci person posted a video that told people it wasn't that cool basically ☹️)
