L.A. County has more than 10 million residents, and we share two senators with 29 million other people. My *county* has more people than NH, ME, MT, RI, DE, ND, SD, AK, VT, and WY combined. Those states have 20 senators. The filibuster can suck it.

It let's politicians pretend they will do the very unpopular thing so they can win primaries without ever having to do the unpopular thing. If Republicans want to roll back the whole social safety net they should be able to do it and then reap what they sow in the next election cycle.

Is it okay to say that the Dakotas, both of them, can get forked? Or maybe we need to add a Central Dakota, give them two Senators, and call it a century.

All but ten states are smaller and each of those other forty states has two of their very own. Passing identical laws for very different jurisdictions needs to take into account the whole "strict majority rule isn't always appropriate" thing but, uh, not like that.

The Senate is wildly biased in favor of Republicans. Long-term, they are going to hold a majority more often than Democrats will. Removing the filibuster gives them unchecked power. If you want to see how that will work out, check the judiciary. That's our future if we remove the filibuster.

Just checked, and my Texas county has more than twice as many people as Wyoming and about twice as many as Vermont.
