Important new overshoot article published in Nature today. The New Scientists covered this & asked for my comment. IMHO this research demonstrates why relying on large scale carbon removal is extraordinarily reckless. It's not a hedge against catastrophe. www.newscientist.com/article/2451...
We might not be able to cool the world down again after overshooting the 1.5°C warming limit – and even if we can, a lot of irreversible damage will have been done
Die CCS Pläne einiger Regierungen in Europa und UK sind verrückt - nur so lässt sich das Ergebnis dieses neuen, vernichtenden Berichts von IEEFA klar übersetzen. ieefa.org/resources/ca....
Too complex, too expensive, and too late to support net-zero targets
Much needed clarity on the looneyness of Europe's #CCS-plans.
This is the biggest risk that championing CCS presents—the likelihood that it may be too late to change track & mitigate or reduce emissions through alternative measures when it is finally realised that the CCS contribution to net-zero targets will fail. ieefa.org/resources/ca....

„They then sold those credits to unsuspecting buyers in the multi-billion-dollar global market for carbon credits“🤡
Final version of my paper on the GHG footprint of LNG exports from the US is now published. Conclusion? LNG has a larger climate impact than any other fossil fuel, including coal. doi.org/10.1002/ese3...
Really disappointing.
🚨The UK govt has pledged £22bn for carbon capture and storage. CCS, which remains unproven at scale, is explicitly intended to extend the shelf life of fossil fuel infrastructure. Meanwhile, govt backing for heat pump incentives, which are demonstrably effective, stands at just £2bn.
Latest efforts to develop nascent technology comes after years of delay
Let's see how they are doing with their carbon dioxide injection.... "Archer Daniels Midland Co. has temporarily paused carbon dioxide injections below its North American headquarters in Decatur after tests revealed a seepage of fluids from a second monitoring well..."
In a letter sent to the U.S. EPA last Friday, the agribusiness giant said tests indicated a movement of brine between different rock formations around 5,000 feet below the surface.
I visited the tomato souped painting a few days after and it was fine. I’m still reeling over the 20- and 24-month long sentences that the activists got.
