Oops I found Wonder Woman discourse. I'm afraid I must join. Wonder Woman should NOT be Zeus's child. She SHOULD be a clay child of Hippolytta brought to life by the Olympian Goddesses. The former strips her uniquness, ties her power to a shithead, and strips feminist elements.
I'm not sure why this is even controversial. Saying "this character who is a beacon of strength of feminitity, demonstrating that women do not need a man to be strong" and then saying "her mother lied to her, the reason she is strong is because she got it from her (rapist) father" is not a good move
The twitter page for Wonder Woman Contra Context has been suspended for no given reason. Total bullshit.
I've been marinating on this for a few days - The esteemed yet contraversial Tom King's first issue of Wonder Woman dropped and it's quite good. Coming from an ex-CIA writer, making the story into a stand-in for the post-9/11 government response is intruiging. It actually pairs well with WW Historia
I think King has a character voice problem as always and he nerfed the Amazons - a departure from the Cloonan run in tone. But I think what we are given effectively established Wonder Woman as an arbiter of Truth and symbol of hope so thematically the antagonist is a master of lies. Great 4/5.
