I saw hundreds of nights of aurora while living in interior Alaska, but red is usually only ever seen to the south because it's rare in itself, and is much higher elevation and somewhat dimmer than the commonly seen green aurora. Waiting for darkness in PNW now. Sky is clear and stars are out.
