#Middlegrade Chat Q2 — Chapter length! My draft chapters usually range about 3k / 3.5k words but by the time I’m finished editing, they average between 2k-2.5k words, which is what I usually aim for.

Question 2 Do you have a target chapter length in mind when writing middle grade books? Do you average close to your target? How big is your chapter length range?

Oooh - how long do your total stories run to? (I think I underwrite fractionally, because in editing I usually add around 100-200 words to most of my shorter chapters)
