Adobe scraped their own artists. One of their most prolific brush designers quit recently in protest. I had an adobe suite account for almost 15 years. I canceled this year. I can’t with them + their AI choices. www.reddit.com/r/Adobe/s/xC...

The guy who has been making amazing brushes for Photoshop and Fresco announced he was leaving Adobe. Not surprise, because he made his dislike of GenAI no secret.

If I start off with the goal of wanting to make molasses cookies, and I don't know how to make molasses cookies. I will have to learn the process of making molasses cookies. And, if I desire to do so in the future, I can in fact iterate on that recipe AND use the process to make other baked goods!

And the thing that always seemed foolish to me about this position is, by a belief that I share with them, you get better at things by practicing them; wouldn't it follow that you'd get better at inquiry the more you engaged with it, and isn't inquiry a way to build background knowledge?🤔

If you're in Canada, check these out: bsky.app/profile/jayi.... And someone asked me about UK alerts. I think I can do those if no one else gets to it first, but I also have to go campaigning tomorrow to help flip the NH State House back blue.

I rabbit on about the state of Cdn media but this is an example of what happens when media is gutted. Setting Poilievre & the Conservatives aside, sometimes people interpret some things journalists do as intentional bias or even malice when it's actually a symptom of an industry cut to the bone.

What happened years ago in newspapers is now happening in TV. Google and Meta took the ad money, and when the money goes, so do the experienced people. Those individuals sometimes say things like: “Wait a minute. That’s not what Poilievre said. We can’t air that.”
Five or six of the newspapers where I worked over the years are gone now, and some of the remaining ones are no longer worth reading. News deserts are spreading in rural Canada, which has grim implications for our democracy.
In the place of a healthy journalistic ecosystem, we have increasingly powerful direct communications between politicians and voters through social media. We witnessed that this week after CTV messed up, and Conservatives took to the internet to denounce what they insinuated was a nefarious plot cooked up by a cabal of Trudeau-loving CTVers. The allegation is ridiculous.
