I didn’t know this needed to be explicitly stated, but the South has the absolute best food of any region in the US. That is just a fact. Black people did that for the culture. I don’t want to hear nothing else on this topic. Y’all not finna bad mouth gumbo, grits, sweet tea. None of it.
I want to love grits. They’re fine??? I love all the other things.
Objectively true.
When I visited New Orleans I had the chance to spend a day at the New Orleans School of Cooking (this was 2003). Cajun spice is by far my favourite. Love southern cuisine!
I've had the good fortune of being fed these foods as an Australian and I wholeheartedly agree.
Sees you and raises with Puerto Rican (Afro-Caribbean) food. I’ll be here al week.
I 100% agree with this even though I’m a San Francisco white dude. I’ll avoid sweet tea just because it’s not my thing but will never say it’s bad if people like it. God damn now I want some good soul food
This objectively correct and totally inarguable
I would say it's a bit more complicated than that. Yes, northern European food is mediocre at best, and the cultures they created through colonization aren't better. Yes, Black-influenced Southern food is great. But there are other great American cuisines: some indigenous, some from cultural mixing.
Collard greens with ham hocks, corn bread, and a nice sweet tea
