There is Color Language Discourse happening here and I am IN MY ELEMENT.
like WSW on the compass, green blue-green, blue blue-green
Aaaaaaah, made me remember this and your charming post on cerise! archive.nytimes.com/6thfloor.blo...
How many shades of green can you distinguish?
Who would like some ridiculous color naming facts OKAY English has 11 basic color terms. These are the basic words we use to describe big chunks of all the colors that we see. Those terms are: black white gray red orange yellow green blue purple brown pink Simple? Don't you wish. (1/n)
I love this debate, but it also seems like people applying meaningless semantics to scientific phenomena that language is incapable of simplifying. It's like the whole "is a tennis ball yellow or green" debate, which refuses to acknowledge the existence of chartreuse or the spectrum in general.
Purple is mt favorite color*. I still refer to it as color because we can produce the entire spectrum digitally and its how we recognise that shade. I landed on a whole tangent about why Purple, despite being the color of royalty, is not commonly used in country flags.
My people are here!?!?!?! 🤩 🤩 🤩 🤩 🤩
