Oof! This job market is absolutely brutal. That is absurd and yet, this is not the first time I’ve heard someone say they have applied for several hundred positions and received no replies. It makes absolutely no sense.

I’m one! i stopped counting applications and just started counting rejections I actually got.

Chiming in, as a person who’s been looking for sufficient work since late 2019, has thousands or tens of thousands of applications in that time, and keeps detailed records:

The flip side to this: I was recruiting for a role earlier this year and the vast majority of applications were AI generated and completely unsuited to the role. Many of the cover letters we received were obviously written by AI -- it's not helping applicants or employers. But we replied to all.

Between ‘ghost jobs’ and recruiting teams that are just not doing their jobs, its really bad!
