And I’m seeing this from critics and film people I really respect! What the fuck????? Come on!!!!
Notably some of the same people criticizing The Substance as being bad for being “too” on the nose about misogyny and yet their glowing reception of Megalopolis tells me maybe Fargeat was too subtle about how insulted misogyny is in show business.
There’s this one particular account/critic (no names!) who I have gone out of my way to avoid because they’re constantly having meltdowns and in people’s mentions or QTs very accusatory of stuff. Hurt people hurt people and I def have empathy but god lord they always seem to be swimming in drama!
Vent posting on this app because nobody uses it.
Next time I come in, JFK will finally be mine (for a rental). Thanks dude!
This isn’t even trying to be edgy this is just theming the premiere the way Barbie would roll out a pink carpet. I genuinely hate Film Twitter sometimes it’s so snobby.
All horror is pastiche! All slashers are variations on Psycho essentially remaking the same movie with slight variation every time! This is basic Slasher Cinema 101!
There were people taking the stunt protesters at the Maxxxine premiere as West trying to generate fake controversy and not actual taboo or something in his movies as opposed to just like, recreating a scene in the movie about the mass hysteria around video nasties in the 80s. Open the schools!!!!
“She is what the killer once was; [s]he is what she could become should she fail in her battle for sexual selfhood.” This is the entire thesis of these movies!!!!
